When it comes to scanners, there’s plenty out there to choose from. And while any scanner might do the job, which one does it more efficiently for you? We’ll go over the different barcode scanners we offer and make recommendations based on your industry.
Scanner technology has improved over the years to provide faster, more accurate scans. Still, there are features each business can benefit from depending on the scanner.
Wireless scanners are a great option for those who don’t like being tethered to the computer. Running a retail store requires you to move quickly, and wires can cause frustration while going about your day. Our most popular wireless scanner is the DS2278. Like its wired counterpart, the DS2208, the DS2278 is an entry-level scanner. It can easily scan a variety of barcodes, including UPC codes, small jewelry tag barcodes, and 2D driver’s license barcodes. You may also scan codes on phones, such as coupons.
This model can be connected via its charging cradle, which is connected to the computer via USB. Or, it can be configured as Bluetooth to be connected to your phone or tablet. Both scanners withstand a three-foot drop on concrete.
Both scanners come with a presentation mode. Simply rest the scanner in a stand or the cradle and present it with a barcode. However, the presentation mode in this scanner isn’t the fastest. If that is a dealbreaker for you, consider reading the “Presentation Scanner” section.
If being totally hands-free is your goal, we offer the DS9208. This scanner is optimal if you don’t want to have to pick up the scanner each time to scan barcodes. While its not designed for handheld use, it can be a handheld scanner in a pinch. This model has an adjustable face, so you can tilt the axis up or down to accommodate larger or smaller products–without shining the scanner light directly at your customers.
Like the DS2278, the DS9208 scans a variety of barcodes, including UPC codes, small jewelry tags, 2D driver’s license codes, and barcodes on phones.
For fast-paced industries, receiving areas, and warehouses, you need a scanner that keeps up–not just with scanning, but with the environment. For high-traffic scenarios, we recommend the DS3678 rugged barcode scanner.
The DS3678 is wireless, so you won’t have to worry about snagging on merchandise and getting tangled. Like the other scanners mentioned, it scans UPC codes, small codes, 2D driver’s license codes, and barcodes on phones.
This scanner comes with a cradle to charge the device. The scanner itself has a replaceable battery that can be swapped out as needed. It easily handles hot and cold conditions, being sprayed or submerged with water, and multiple 8-foot drops onto concrete.
