Artisan has plenty of powerful reports that provide an in-depth overview of your sales data. One in particular is the “Sales Summary Report<\/strong>,” also referred to as the “Month-End<\/strong>” report. View receipt and tender summaries, sales and tenders by station, sales tax breakdown, sales by hour, category, and much more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Read on to see how you can use this report to its full advantage.<\/p>\n

Accessing the Report<\/h3>\n

There are two ways you can access this report. Head to the top of the screen and select “Reports<\/strong>,” “Sales Reports<\/strong>,” and “Sales Summary Report<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Or, from the “Main Menu<\/strong>,” click on “Reports.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

Select “Sales Reports<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Choose “Sales Summary Report<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Either way, you’ll end up at the following screen.<\/p>\n

Report Fields and Reading the Report<\/h3>\n

Sales Site<\/strong><\/p>\n

You may choose to view sales data for one store or all stores (if you have multiple). Just select your option from the dropdown.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

From<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enter a date range. This will automatically default to your current month. However, you may enter any specific time period you’d like (a day, a week, two months, etc).\u00a0 You may type these dates in manually or select them from the calendar by clicking on the downward-facing arrows.<\/p>\n

You may choose to include the following fields to make the report as detailed as you wish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Include Unposted Transactions<\/strong><\/p>\n

This includes any sales that you have not posted during your Day-End for the specific time range you selected.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Receipts & Tender Summaries<\/strong><\/p>\n

This includes deposits collected, sales tax, and other information pertinent to the sale(s).<\/p>\n

Total Tenders and Total Receipts should match.<\/p>\n

Sales & Tender By Station<\/strong><\/p>\n

Include this if you would like to see transactions and sales completed at each individual station. This includes the total sales collected, number of sales, number of items sold, and tax. This report includes data by location and station. This is especially helpful to determine what locations sell better than others and what stations are more active than others.<\/p>\n

The station area includes the name of the station, its number, money collected, and the payment type (cash, credit, etc).<\/p>\n

Show Sales Tax Breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first part of the report shows tax information broken down by location.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The other half of the report focuses on the tax type, sales amount, taxable sales, and more. This is useful to determine if any sales were tax-exempt due to customer type (ex. educator or military exemption) or other circumstances (ex. tax-free holiday).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Show Sales By Hour<\/strong><\/p>\n

This will break down your sales by day and hour. This report will also tell you the number of each day sales occurred. For example, in this report, sales happened on a Sunday 10 times.<\/p>\n

This report also helps you identify your most popular sales times. In this example, 9 AM appears to be a popular time most days–especially on Friday.<\/p>\n

Sales by Category<\/strong><\/p>\n

This breaks down your sales by category. View the total amount sold, quantity sold, any discounts applied, cost of the items sold, gross profit received, and percentage margin (sales amount subtracted by the cost of goods sold).\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is useful to see which categories perform better than others.<\/p>\n

Sales by Vendor<\/strong><\/p>\n

This breaks down sales data by vendor, including the vendor code, name, sales by vendor, quantity sold, discounts applied, cost of the goods sold, and profit received.<\/p>\n

Use this report to determine which vendor products perform better than others.<\/p>\n

Sales By Item<\/strong><\/p>\n

This includes the item code, vendor purchase number, number sold, price, cost of goods sold, and description. The report also combines the number of products sold, their prices, and costs of goods sold.<\/p>\n

Utilize this report to see which items sell better than others (or don’t sell at all). In this example, our most popular item is the Blue Cardigan. Our least popular items are the Purple Butterfly Bookmark, Harper’s Bazar Poster, Orange Roses Flower Scarf, and Dog Thank You Card.<\/p>\n

Sales By Customer<\/strong><\/p>\n

This breaks down your customer information, including their customer ID, name, sales, discounts applied, units sold, and profit gained.<\/p>\n

Use this data to determine your most popular customers. In this example, Virginia Beach Treasure purchased the most out of all customers, while Ellwood Gifts purchased nothing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sales By Rep<\/strong><\/p>\n

This breaks down sales information by sales rep. This includes sales rep name, hours worked, number of sales slips, total sales, commission received, and more.<\/p>\n

Sales By Rep By Customer<\/strong><\/p>\n

This breaks down which sales rep served what customer, the total number of sales, discounts applied, number of items sold, and any commission accrued.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In this example, Claudia had a total of three customers, while Alice had four.<\/p>\n
