A great way to see an overview of your sales activity is by running a “Daily Sales Summary” report. View gross sales, net sales, cost of goods sold, profit, and more.<\/p>\n

Read this article to see how you can use this report to your advantage.<\/p>\n

Accessing the Report<\/h3>\n

Select “Reports<\/strong>,” “Sales Reports<\/strong>,” and “Daily Sales Summary Report<\/strong>” from the toolbar.<\/p>\n

Or, from the “Main Menu<\/strong>,” select “Reports<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Click on “Sales Reports<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Choose “Daily Sales Summary Report<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Either way, you’ll end up at the following screen.<\/p>\n

Report Fields<\/h3>\n

Enter a date range. Do so by manually typing in dates or selecting them from the calendar (accessed by the dropdown arrows next to the date fields).<\/p>\n

Select which site you want to view data from. If you have more than one site, select “ALL Sites” if you want to view information from all sites, or select a specific one from the list.<\/p>\n

View the report. As with most Artisan reports, you can choose “Save as Defaults” to save any fields, such as the site you select for “Sales Site.” The only fields that won’t save are date fields.<\/p>\n

Reading the Report<\/h3>\n

The first column shows the date the sale occurred (ex. Fri, November 14th).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The # Slips column shows how many sales slips were created that day (ex. 10).<\/p>\n

The # Units column shows how many products\/items were sold that day.<\/p>\n

The Gross Sales column displays the dollar amount of sales received that day (without any reductions).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Discount column displays any discounts applied to the sale. This will affect the Net Sales column.<\/p>\n

To calculate Net Sales, Gross Sales are subtracted from the Discounts column. (Ex. If you didn’t have any discounts applied to the sale, your Gross and Net Sales are the same).<\/p>\n

The next three columns take into consideration any sales that were owned inventory, consignment, or rented out.<\/p>\n

The COGS (cost of goods sold) column is the Gross Sales minus the profit. For example, we had a $640.00 in Gross Sales for November 4th, and $256.00 in Profit, leaving us with $384.00 for COGS.<\/p>\n

The Margin Column is the Profit divided by the Net Sales, multiplied by 100. For example, our profit for November 9th is $1459.20. Our Net Sales is $3,738.00. That comes to .39, multiplied by 100, which gives us a 39% margin.<\/p>\n

The Average Slip column is Net Sales divided by the number of slips. For November 9th, our Net Sales was $3738.00. We had four slip numbers that day, which gives us an average slip total of $934.50.<\/p>\n

The Sales Tax column is the total amount of sales tax on all sales that day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
