If configured, Artisan will log out of the current user after a certain period of inactivity. If the user is in the middle of something, such as entering a sale or editing a customer record, Artisan will remember that and return to that screen once the user has logged in again.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> A similar setting is Artisan’s “Exit When Idle<\/a><\/strong>” option. When configured, Artisan will close out entirely instead of logging a user out. However, Artisan will ask before closing out if there are any unsaved changes. Click here<\/a> to learn about this setting.<\/p>\n

Setting Up \u201cLogout When Idle\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From the “Program Options<\/strong>” screen, click on “Users and Security Settings<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Expand the “General Security Options<\/strong>” screen.<\/p>\n

Look for the “Log Out When Idle for<\/strong>” field. This can be set for both Strong Users and Other Users. Strong users are Owners and Managers, Medium users are Supervisors, and Weak users are Clerks Level 1 and 2.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You may change the log out time by entering a different number (ex. \u201c15\u201d for 15 minutes). If you wish to disable \u201cLogout When Idle<\/strong>,\u201d input a 0.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Example<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Let’s say we have an Owner set to log out after 5 minutes of inactivity. The Owner started working on a purchase order but had to leave the station. Artisan will detect the five minutes of inactivity, log the user out, and exit to the Log In screen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The user will need to log back in to continue editing the purchase order (notice that the purchase order screen is grayed out in “Open Screens<\/strong>“).<\/p>\n
