In order for ScannerPal to work correctly, please:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Click images to enlarge.\u00a0Note: Since the software has to be running on the network, putting the ScannerPal programs on the main register is usually best. It is also a good idea to put the server computer on a fixed IP address.<\/em><\/p>\n 1.<\/strong> Install the “Desktop<\/strong><\/a>” program first, then “Connect<\/strong><\/a>“. (Sometimes we refer to both files as “TracerPlus,<\/strong>” even though these are two separate programs). Currently, we’re using version 10.5, which you can find in DropBox\\Install\\Utilities\\TracerPlus.<\/p>\n 1b.<\/strong> Copy the two ScannerPal project files (one “.tpe” and one “.tce”) onto this computer from Dropbox\\Install\\Artisan\\4.7\\TracerPlus (for now). By convention, they can go in “Documents\\Artisan\\ScannerPal<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n 2. <\/b>Install the Postgres ODBC 32-bit driver: https:\/\/www.postgresql.org\/ftp\/odbc\/versions\/msi\/<\/a> Pick the latest one (highest version number) ending in “-x86”.\u00a064 bit WILL NOT work.<\/strong><\/p>\n 3<\/strong>. Open the 32-bit ODBC Data Sources manager.<\/p>\n 4.<\/strong> Click on the “System DSN<\/strong>” tab. Click “Add<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n Select the “Unicode<\/strong>” PostgreSQL driver you just installed, then select “Finish<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n 5. <\/strong>Fill out the following screen with details that match the “About Artisan POS Software<\/strong>” screen. To find this information, click on “Help<\/strong>,” and “About<\/strong>” in Artisan.\u00a0Note:\u00a0<\/strong>These fields must be correct as this is how the device will communicate with Artisan. If you change the port number or server location in Artisan, you must update the ODBC settings.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Leave “Username<\/strong>” and “Password<\/strong>” blank.<\/p>\n The “Description<\/strong>” is optional but we recommend inputting it as “Artisan POS ScannerPal<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n Leave “SSL<\/strong>” set to “disable.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n Press “Save<\/strong>.”\u00a0 (You cannot use the “Test” button here.)<\/p>\n 6<\/strong>. In the “Desktop<\/strong>” program, click on “File<\/strong>,” then “Import<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n Select “From file (.tpe)<\/strong>,” then “Next<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n Locate the .tpe file from step\u00a01b<\/strong> and finish importing it into the program.<\/p>\n Save<\/strong> the new project file into an “Artisan ScannerPal” folder in the TracerPlus Desktop \/ Projects folder.<\/p>\n 7.\u00a0<\/strong>Switch to the “Connect<\/strong>” program.<\/p>\n Select “File<\/strong>,” “Import<\/strong>,” and “Close Current Project<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n Find the .tce file, the file from step 1b<\/strong> and select it to import into TracerPlus Connect.<\/strong><\/p>\n You will get a message during the import that says the linked\u00a0Desktop<\/strong><\/em> project was not found.\u00a0 Select “Yes<\/strong>” on the dialog and then locate and select the Artisan ScannerPal desktop project that you saved in the previous step.<\/p>\n You must repeat this project linking THREE times<\/strong>. It may seem like it’s stuck in a loop, but it needs to be done for each of the 3 sync profiles in the Connect project.<\/p>\n 8.\u00a0<\/strong>Once this is imported, check the Item Records area. There should be no red on this screen, like the red this example shows. If these fields are red, then the connection failed. If they’re not red, then all the connections were found.<\/p>\n 9.\u00a0<\/strong>Click on “File<\/strong>,” “Save As<\/strong>,” and save the document as “Artisan ScannerPal<\/strong>” in the “TracerPlus Connect\\Projects<\/strong>” folder.<\/p>\n 10.\u00a0<\/strong>Open the “Desktop<\/strong>” program. We’ll need to tell ScannerPal where this computer is located.<\/p>\n To do so, open the “Command Prompt<\/strong>” dialog on the computer.<\/p>\n Type “ipconfig\/all<\/strong>” to locate the IP 4 address.<\/p>\n If the ScannerPal project is not already open in “Desktop<\/strong>“, go to “File<\/strong>,” “Open<\/strong>” and locate “Artisan ScannerPal”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On the “Connect<\/strong>” tab, click into the “Host Name\/IP Address<\/strong>” field to edit it to the computer’s IP address, since this is the Host address (where the Connect server will be running).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
