You might have customers who buy in bulk (wholesalers), regular retailer shoppers, or unique groups, like art suppliers or farmers. For example, if they belong to a Loyalty Club and they have earned a specific number of points, you can change their customer type to always give them a certain discount off retail. OR you may set up employees to pay a certain percentage above cost for items they purchase.<\/p>\n<p>To configure multiple price levels for different types of customers, from the &#8220;<strong>Main Menu<\/strong>,&#8221; select the &#8220;<strong>Customers<\/strong>&#8221; button and then the &#8220;<strong>Customer Types (Price Levels)<\/strong>&#8221; button.<\/p>\n<p>You can easily add your own Customer Types by selecting the &#8220;<strong>Add A New Record<\/strong>&#8221; (F3) button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-09-07_15h10_48.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16081 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-09-07_15h10_48.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"694\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-09-07_15h10_48.png 694w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-09-07_15h10_48-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Name for the Customer Type<\/strong> &#8211; Name the record so you can easily identify the price level. For example, &#8220;<strong>Employee<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Menu Order<\/strong> &#8211; You can set the order of the customer type when it appears in a list by setting the number here. If the menu order is duplicated, then the list will be alphabetized. To remove a record from the list, set the menu order to zero.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Price Based On<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0When a markdown percentage is used, this field determines which price the\u00a0percentage amount is subtracted from. This way you can have, for example, regular\u00a0Wholesale customers, with a markdown of 40% from the Retail price, and Premier\u00a0Wholesale customers who get an additional 10% off of the regular Wholesale price. This is\u00a0particularly useful when some items are priced manually.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, you can set the price for this level to be a Markup above cost which could be used for employees.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/customer-Type-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2364 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/customer-Type-2.png\" alt=\"customer Type 2\" width=\"429\" height=\"112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/customer-Type-2.png 371w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/customer-Type-2-300x78.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 429px) 100vw, 429px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Escalates to (Customer Type)<\/strong> &#8211; This would be used if you have a Category that has Special Handling set to escalate a customer type when purchased. See the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a title=\"Category Record Basic Info Tab\" href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/category-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Category Record Basic Tab<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Default Markdown\/Markup<\/strong> &#8211; Set this level&#8217;s percentage Markdown OR Markup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Show Markdown As<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0This field determines how the markdown amount is reflected on the Cash Register\u00a0sales screen and on receipts. Select \u201c<strong>Adjusted Price<\/strong>\u201d to use the markdown to adjust the unit price.\u00a0Select \u201c<strong>Discount<\/strong>\u201d to keep the regular retail price and show the difference as a discount. This setting will also affect reporting of discounts in Day End and Month End reports. It will be included on invoices but not on packing slips.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-01-27_13h04_55.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11611 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-01-27_13h04_55.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"759\" height=\"529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-01-27_13h04_55.png 855w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-01-27_13h04_55-300x209.png 300w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2022-01-27_13h04_55-768x535.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ignore Retail Discount<\/strong> &#8211; This option allows you to ignore any discounts set in item records or category records for this customer type.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Customer Discount Type\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; If you have chosen to Ignore Discounts &#8220;<strong>NO<\/strong>,&#8221; you can set the field to either &#8220;<strong>Don&#8217;t Combine with other discounts (each line gets best discount)<\/strong>&#8221; or allow &#8220;<strong>Additional Discount on top of the other discounts<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Customer ID Required<\/strong> &#8211; If this is set to &#8220;<strong>Yes<\/strong>,&#8221; then the customer ID is required to receive this Price Level pricing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enable Contract Pricing\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Select &#8220;<strong>Yes<\/strong>&#8221; to enable contract pricing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Authorization Level\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Select which authorization level this customer type requires to add a customer to this list.
