Artisan 4.9<\/strong><\/a> introduces the long-awaited feature of automatic updates\/check for updates. Please follow these instructions to learn more.<\/p>\n

You must close all other stations and the Artisan Task Manager (If you are running Remote Operations or an Internet Store).\u00a0
Then, you should make a backup<\/a> of your data before upgrading.
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note: <\/strong>Artisan can check for updates whenever someone logs in. You can also check for updates at any time by going to “Help<\/strong>” and “Check for Updates<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

The Update Process<\/h3>\n

If there is a recent version available, you will get this message.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Artisan will download and launch the install wizard. Artisan will close.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You may get this Pop-Up Question: Click Yes<\/strong>
\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Select “Next<\/strong>” on the “Welcome to the Artisan POS Software<\/strong>” screen.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Most likely, you are using the default directory for the Artisan Program installation. If not, browse to the correct one if it’s wrong.
Select “Next<\/strong>” on the “Select Destination Directory<\/strong>” screen.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Select “Finish<\/strong>” on the “Completing the Artisan POS Software Setup Wizard.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Artisan will tell you that your database needs to be upgraded. Select “Yes.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Artisan will let you know when the upgrade is complete. Select “OK<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Upgrading Other Stations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you have other stations, open up Artisan and you will get a similar message.
\"\"<\/a>Click OK. Then, Artisan will let you install the saved version or download the correct version. Click Yes or OK and proceed to upgrade as instructed. Follow the prompts similar to the directions for the first station.<\/p>\n

Update Settings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You can have Artisan automatically check for updates after a set number of days.\u00a0 If you never\u00a0<\/em>want Artisan to automatically check for updates, just set this number to “0<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

You can limit update checking to specific users (or groups of users).\u00a0<\/p>\n

To control these settings for an authorization level (ex. Supervisors), head to “Checking for Program Updates<\/strong>” under “Security Settings for Other Tasks<\/strong>.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note: “User-Based Authorization<\/a>” (part of the “Deluxe” pack) must be turned on to use the following feature.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

To control if specific users can check for updates, scroll down to “User-Based Authorization<\/strong>.” From the “Task<\/strong>” list, select “Check for program updates<\/strong>.” Select which user(s) you want to control access.<\/p>\n
