You can either export sales for a range of dates or for an individual day-end closing, automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of this procedure is common to all external accounting packages, but some details vary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For <strong>QuickBooks Desktop<\/strong>, <em>Artisan<\/em> exports to a file in Intuit Interchange Format (IIF).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Artisan POS version 4.9.225 or later<\/em> uses a direct connection to export directly into <strong>QuickBooks Online<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With older versions of <em>Artisan<\/em>, you can use the IIF export method then use a third-party program to import IIF files into <strong>QuickBooks Online<\/strong>. See <a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/knowledge-base\/connecting-to-quickbooks-desktop\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"23051\"><strong>Connecting to QuickBooks Desktop<\/strong><\/a> for notes on using <strong>Importer GURU<\/strong> for this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you can export for the first time, you must configure the <a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/knowledge-base\/external-accounting-package-settings\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"2393\"><strong>External Accounting Package Settings<\/strong><\/a> appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">This article is part of a series on using <em>Artisan<\/em> with External Accounting Programs, such as QuickBooks. Only transactions that have been posted in a Day-End closing will be included.<br><br>Consignment Statements and Vendor Invoices will only be included if they were completed <em>before<\/em> an included Day-End.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next step depends on whether you&#8217;re using QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For <strong>QuickBooks Desktop<\/strong>, the exported data will be written to an .iif file (Intuit Interchange Format), for import into QuickBooks. After entering the date range above, you&#8217;ll need to choose an export filename and location. The default filename will be &#8220;DayEnd.iif&#8221;, or a date-specific &#8220;DayEnd-YYYYMMDD.iif&#8221;, depending on your configuration settings, but you can change it to whatever you want. Remember the folder location and filename; you&#8217;ll need it for the next step. Make sure you browse to the same folder. If you haven&#8217;t done so recently, you may be sent to a web browser and asked to login to QuickBooks and possibly to approve the connection from Artisan, as described in <a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/knowledge-base\/connecting-to-quickbooks-online\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"22982\"><strong>Connecting to QuickBooks Online (QBO)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"creating-accounts-in-quickbooks\">Exporting Automatically at Day-End<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of exporting manually, you can configure <em>Artisan<\/em> to automatically export sales summaries after every Day-End closing. This export will only include transactions from the specific Day-End, even if there are multiple Day-End closing on the same date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To change this setting, go to Tools =&gt; Options =&gt; Miscellaneous Program Options =&gt; Day-End &amp; Shift Closing Options. See <a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/knowledge-base\/external-accounting-package-settings\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"2393\"><strong>External Accounting Package Settings<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exporting Accounting Data for Multiple Sites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have multiple sites, you can configure the accounting export to send data only for the current site, or to include posted transactions from all sites (separated by site).
