Follow these steps to solve errors when installing Postgresql on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.<\/p>\n

  1. Create a new user account, called postgres<\/li>\n
  2. Add the new account to the Administrators and Power Users groups.<\/li>\n
  3. Restart the computer. The next step will not work without doing so.<\/li>\n
  4. Run a command prompt as the Postgres user, using the command:
    \nrunas \/user:postgres cmd.exe<\/li>\n
  5. Run the installer from the Postgres command window.<\/li>\n
