We&#8217;ll walk you through how to set up this type of printer in Artisan. Click <a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/artisan-pos-supported-printers\/\">here<\/a> to make sure your printer meets Artisan&#8217;s requirements in order to run correctly.<\/p>\n<p>Before following this tutorial, make sure your printer drivers are installed. Most driver installations follow similar steps. <a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/installing-a-tsc-printer-driver\/\">Here is how to install a driver<\/a> for our most popular label printer.<\/p>\n<h3>Device Configuration<\/h3>\n<p>To get started, we\u2019ll need to configure the printer. It is strongly recommended that you do not alter this setting. Instead, choose the next available printer (in this case, \u201c<strong>Printer 3<\/strong>,&#8221; since we set up &#8220;<strong>Printer 2<\/strong>&#8221; as our Receipt Printer in <strong>this<\/strong> tutorial).<\/p>\n<p>Choose a description for this printer, such as &#8220;<strong>Label Printe<\/strong>r.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h15_08.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5738 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h15_08.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h15_08.png 749w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h15_08-300x159.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Make sure \u201c<strong>Print to File<\/strong>\u201d is set to \u201c<strong>No<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Notice the section \u201c<strong>Windows 10 Printer Name<\/strong>.\u201d Artisan will automatically detect which operating system you are on, and this name will change accordingly (e.g., \u201c<strong>Mac OS 11 Printer Name<\/strong>\u201d if you\u2019re using a Mac computer).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h16_44.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5739 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h16_44.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h16_44.png 714w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h16_44-300x111.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though it\u2019s easier to leave your printer set to default, there might be times where you\u2019ll want to change this. For instance, some versions of Windows try to manage your default printer for you and end up choosing the wrong printer. To ensure you\u2019re connected to the right printer, head into your printer settings on your computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Windows users: <\/strong>Search for \u201c<strong>control panel<\/strong>\u201d in your Windows search bar, then click on \u201c<strong>view devices and printers<\/strong>.\u201d If there isn\u2019t a checkmark over your selected printer, that means Windows is choosing your default printer based on which printer you print the most from. Select which printer you want to use, click on <strong>\u201cset as default printer<\/strong>,\u201d and hit \u201c<strong>yes<\/strong>\u201d when asked \u201c<strong>do you want to override this setting?<\/strong>\u201c<\/p>\n<p>In Artisan, select \u201c<strong>Printer Type<\/strong>.\u201d This section lets you confirm what type of printer you are using (thermal, label, sheet, etc.). Select &#8220;<strong>Yes<\/strong>.&#8221; Hitting &#8220;<strong>yes<\/strong>&#8221; automatically changes the Merchandise Item Label Printer 1 section in the &#8220;<strong>Printer Assignments<\/strong>&#8221; panel. This assigns merchandise labels to a printer (in this case, printer number 3). If you wish to manually change the printer number, use the up and down arrows to do so.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h28_56.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5742 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h28_56.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h28_56.png 707w, https:\/\/certek.com\/kb4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2021-09-09_09h28_56-300x108.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another pop-up occurs after the &#8220;<strong>Merchandise Item Labels<\/strong>&#8221; popup, this time confirming if you want to use this printer for printing Mailing Labels. It is important to delete these characters from the \u201c<strong>Final String<\/strong>\u201d section.
