Artisan POS Software version 4.1.114 is the latest production version of our new 4.x line.

Existing Mac Users Upgrade:

  1. Enter your download password again at the bottom of this page.
  2. Make an Artisan Backup!
  3. Extract these files and put them into their Applications folder under the Artisan sub-folder.
  4. Edit their Automator script to point to the new version by starting Automator from the search magnify glass icon in the top right of your screen. Type in Automator in your spotlight search.
  5. Open an existing document and find Artisan POS, usually saved on your desktop. Edit the numbers in the script to match new new version number you just extracted.
  6. Save your Automator script and test to make sure it runs. Contact CerTek for assistance if you run into trouble.
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 for each additional station.

Existing Windows Users Upgrade:

  1. Enter your download password again at the bottom of this page.
  2. Make an Artisan Backup!
  3. Extract these files and put them under the Artisan sub-folder.
  4. Copy the Artisan Batch file from your previous installation (which contains memory settings) and put it into your new version directory, overwriting the default file.
  5. Find your Artisan 4.X Icon, usually on your desktop, right click, and choose properties.
  6. Edit the numbers in the script to match new new version number you just extracted.
  7. Test your work by double clicking or whatever you normally do to open Artisan. Contact CerTek for assistance if you run into trouble.
  8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 for each additional station.

Trial version users can utilize the built-in Derby database with sample data. From sample data you can choose your industry to start your sample data with and then add your own items, vendors, categories, sales, purchase orders, and everything else you can do with real data.

Current 4.0 users can easily update their existing installation version.

Brand New 4.0 users who never used 3.5 can get started with real data. CerTek normally installs everything for you. If you have a trial version already installed, you may skip the third step.

  • You must be licensed to use 4.X. You will need to acquire new license key(s) from CerTek.
  • Artisan 4.x uses PostgreSQL and that will need to be installed and setup.
  • Install Java JRE and Artisan 4.X.

Existing 3.5 users can Migrate their data to 4.X.

  • You must be licensed to use 4.x. You will need to acquire new license key(s) from CerTek.
  • Not all 3.5 features are fully implemented in 4.X, check our release schedule for details.
  • Artisan 4.x uses PostgreSQL and that will need to be installed and setup.
  • You must upgrade to the latest version of Artisan POS 3.5.
  • You should run database maintenance tasks as prescribed by CerTek.
  • Make a backup of your Artisan data, as always.
