Artisan allows you to create a custom list of customer records that allows you to create customer reports and mailing labels generated by the program.
You can get to the customer list screen by selecting the “Customers” button on the tool bar. Alternatively, you can select “Customers” from the “Main Menu,” and then “Customer Records.”
Customer Lists are created by selecting fields and values to be matched from the customer records and sales history. Once created, these lists can be saved for re-use and edited to establish different criteria. While in the “Customer Records” screen, to create a Customer List, you must click on the “Show Power Search” button or keyboard shortcut ALT-F2.
This opens the selection parameters window, where you control how the customers will be selected for this list.
Selection Parameter Basics
The first set of options are your overall Customer Type/Price Level for your custom Customer list. Decide what level of customer are you creating this list for, or you can leave this at the default option “-ALL-.”
The next step is to choose whether it’s the customer anniversary or birthday, or even both.
The last set of options is where you can select the time period for the birthday or anniversary. If you create this list on a monthly basis by sending out an email or mailing, then you would select the time frame of “Next Month.” You could then save this list and use it every month to create a list of customers whose birthdays or anniversaries were coming up in the next month. We will cover how to save the search later in these instructions.
This will tell Artisan specifically if it’s for customers with an upcoming birthday or anniversary.
The default is to show all customers who have purchased AT LEAST zero items in the last 999 years, of any type, whose item descriptions contain anything (or are blank); which, if you think about it, means to include all customers.
The following instructions will work through each line of the sentence on the screen.
- Who purchased AT LEAST 0 items – This line defines the quantity or value of the items specified in the remainder of this section and whether the search is for AT LEAST (Greater than or equal to), AT MOST (Less than or equal to), or EXACTLY the amount specified in the next field.
- Who purchased AT MOST 0 items – This line defines the quantity or value of the items specified in the remainder of this section and whether the search is for AT LEAST (Greater than or equal to), AT MOST (Less than or equal to), or EXACTLY the amount specified in the next field.
