Locking in a scheme is potentially confusing to your customers at check-out if the price is different than the sticker on the merchandise. If you simply want to start off with the price generated from the pricing scheme in the category, then you can simply leave the pricing model to “Set Retail Price Manually” and the default price will be updated when you enter your cost, if your price is set to zero, and if you have set a pricing scheme in the category or vendor record.
You can set up this information in the vendor record.
Use List Price (MSRP) with Cost Markdown
With this pricing model, the Retail Price is automatically set to the List Price (MSRP) for this Item, and changes whenever the MSRP is changed. The cost is automatically computed from a cost markdown percentage subtracted from the List Price. Once a certain percentage is set in the Item record, it will not be affected by changes to the Vendor value.
Use List Price (MSRP) with Specific Cost
With this pricing model, the Retail Price is automatically set to the List Price (MSRP) for this Item, and changes whenever the MSRP is changed. You must set the Standard Cost manually.
Use a Specific Price Chart
With this model, you can select a specific price chart to use to compute the Retail Price for this Item. This is particularly useful with Qty Break charts.
