Sales/Orders with ScannerPal

4.7 introduces PDT (physical data terminal) support. CerTek’s ScannerPal is a portable data terminal that allows you to collect data, like counts, around the store and submit it to Artisan for tasks like sales orders, physical inventory, and more. This article explains how to use ScannerPal for Sales / Orders.

If you’re interested in purchasing or renting ScannerPal, contact sales@certek.com or call (877) 723-7835.

Select Your Collection Method

With ScannerPal, it’s easy to scan items for a Sale Order and then load them onto that sale.

First, select how you are gathering information in ScannerPal. Select “Collect Counts” if you want to scan items then input the quantity as you go. For example, you know you’re scanning all of the same items on a shelf, so you scan one of them, count how many of the items are there, then input that quantity in the quantity box.

Or, select “Collect Scans (w/o Qty).” This is best if it is easier for you to scan each item individually, most commonly if you have a lot of single items or items that are mixed in a group and it’s difficult to see their total QOH at one time.

On the “Job” tab, make sure your “Job Type” is set to “Sale or Order.”

Optionally enter a job description, like “Items for Customer Name’s Sale 12/27/22.”

When you’re ready to scan your items, tap on the “Scan” tab.

Press on the “Item Scan” text box to place the cursor inside. Scan an item by pressing the yellow side button.

Count how many you have of the item and update the QOH if necessary. For instance, you have two in total so you change the “QOH” field to “2.”

Press the blue “next” arrow when finished. ScannerPal will accept that scan and it will display in a list on the “Scans” tab.

When you’re finished scanning, press “Submit Job.” ScannerPal will send the scans to Artisan.

Within Artisan

In Artisan, open a sale and select the “Operations” button or “Ctrl” and “0” on your keyboard.

Select “(Scan Mode) Load Sale from PDT or File.”

Press “Ctrl” and “F10” on your keyboard or select the “Load Scans From Device” button.

This opens the “Scan Job” screen.

You may also press “Ctrl” and “F10” from the Sales Screen to skip instantly to the “Scan Job” screen.

Select the scan job by double-clicking or pressing enter. This brings you to the “Scanned Items” screen. When you’re ready, select “Process.”

The scan(s) will load onto to Sale/Order screen.
