One of Artisan’s many useful features is the ability to save your search criteria. This is especially handy when you want to narrow down your search by certain details, and need to do this on a regular basis.
Saved Searches are tied into the Power Search. Read more about that feature here. A Power Search can be conducted on nearly any record list screen (ex. Item Records, Customer Records, Category Records, Vendor Records, etc).
Accessing the Power Search
To bring up the Power Search, click on the “Power Search” button or press ALT and F2 on your keyboard. Narrow down your search parameters. If necessary, there are even more search details on the “Advanced Filters” tab.
In this example, we are in the Item Records screen. We want to save a search that contains only a certain category within a specific price range. When we’re finished, we’ll press “Save Search.”
Saving Your Search
Artisan will ask you to assign the search a name. You may also choose to make this the Default Search for this record list screen by clicking on the checkbox. If this is selected, Artisan will automatically load records that match this search scheme each time you enter this record list screen.
Note that Saved Searches will also save the original column layout and the sort order (ex. high to low price, A-Z, etc.). To learn more about saving layouts and how they tie in with Saved Searches, click here.
Artisan will load this search scheme, and also save it to your list of Saved Searches. To access your Saved Searches, click on “Start a New Search” or press F2 on your keyboard.
Here is our list of Saved Searches. To switch to a different search, click on the search button or its number/letter on your keyboard.
To change the order of your Saved Searches, return to the records screen and select “Save Search.”
Click on “Edit List of Search Options.”
Here, you can rename, delete, and reorganize the searches. For example, let’s say we want to move our “Ceramics Under 50.00” from the bottom of the list to the top. We’ll select that record and press the “Move Up” button until it is at the top of the list.
Once we hit “OK” and return to the “Saved Searches” screen, we can see our changes.
